The 1st Annual
Carving on the Commons

The 1st Annual Carving on the Commons is now but a memory, but oh what a memory it is!  Set amongst the historic charm of Cooksville, 14 carvers worked throughout the weekend to demonstrate their unique artistic talent - with a chainsaw.  Working at various levels of expertise, each carver thrilled spectators with their art and interesting conversation.  The event culminated on Sunday with an auction of finished pieces.  Thanks to the hard work of all involved, the event raised $3,000 to benefit the non-profit Cooksville Community Center to aid in the preservation of the historic Cooksville Schoolhouse (home of the community center) and fund various local activities such as educational programs, children’s activities, and historical tours.
